Patricia Janiot

Patricia Janiot is a senior anchor for CNN en Español. Janiot joined CNN in 1992 and anchors Emmy-winning evening newscast Panorama Mundial, showing international events from a different perspective. 

Janiot has traveled to Latin America to report live-on-key world events, such as vast number of historic presidential elections, summits and presidential tours, regional crisis and papal tours. 

She has interviewed the vast majority of Latin American heads of state over the past 27 years, such as: Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, General Augusto Pinochet, Colin Powell, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, among others. She has covered numerous live historic events from Atlanta, such as the hostage crisis in Peru, the funeral of Princess Diana, the intervention in Kosovo, the Iraq war, papal elections, the rescue of the Chilean miners, the fall of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, natural tragedies and popular uprisings in the Americas.

Born in Bucaramanga, Colombia, Janiot earned a journalism and mass communications degree from Universidad de la Sabana in Bogotá. She also studied broadcasting, radio and television production at Colegio Superior de Telecomunicaciones in Bogotá and holds a degree in English from Cambridge University. Janiot speaks English and Spanish fluently.
