Susan Segal

President & CEO, American Society/Council of the Americas

Ms. Susan Segal was elected President and CEO of Americas Society/Council of the Americas in 2003 after having worked in the private sector with Latin America and other emerging markets for over 30 years. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Segal was a partner at Chase Capital Partners/JPMorgan Partners focusing on private equity in Latin America and pioneering early stage venture capital investing in the region. As a banker, her focus included investment banking, building an emerging-market bond-trading unit, and the debt crisis of the 1980’s and 1990’s where she chaired the Chilean and Philippine Advisory Committees.  

Ms. Segal is a board member at Americas Society/Council of the Americas, the Tinker Foundation, Scotiabank, Mercado Libre and the Latin American Venture Capital Association.  She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Segal’s awards include the Orden Bernardo O'Higgins, Chile; the Orden de San Carlos, Colombia; the Orden del Águila Azteca, Mexico; and the North American-Chilean Chamber of Commerce’s 2013 Honorary Chilean of the Year.
