José Cano

Plan Belgrano

José Manuel Cano was born on July 15, 1965 in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina.

He graduated from dental school at the National University of Tucumán, where he began his political career.

After graduating, served as the university´s secretary of outreach between 1999 and 2003.

In 2003 he was elected as province legislator, and was reelected four years later. In 2009 he became a national senator. He presided the Health Commission and the UCR block in the Upper Chamber of Congress. In 2013, he resigned as Senator to take un office as Nacional Deputy for Tucumán.

Cano is part of the RAP Organization, where belongs to a task force focused on promoting social integration policies in Argentina.

In decembre,2015, president Mauricio Macri designated him chief of Plan Belgrano.  Unit created with the goal of spearheading o coordinating policies aimed at the development for the ten poorest provinces of Argentina.

José Cano is married and has three sons.
