Silvia Torres Carbonell

Sub Secretary of Creative Economies and Foreign Trade, Government of Buenos Aires City

Silvia Torres Carbonell is currently Sub Secretary of Creative Economies and Foreign Trade of the Government of Buenos Aires City. She is also Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Professor in charge of Entrepreneurship at MBA and Executive Programs at IAE Business School. 

Torres Carbonell has considerable experience as an entrepreneur herself and business manager. She has acted as board member for different companies during the last 20 years, and has actively participated in diverse non-profit organizations, including those focused on business, job creation, education, social development, private-public cooperation and women leadership.

She joined the NAVES National Business Plan Competition in 1999 as Director. She has been Director at GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) in Argentina and Board Member of GERA (Global Entrepreneurship Research Association) since 1999.

She became Board Member of Endeavor Argentina in 2006. She is a Founding member and Vice-President of IWF (International Woman Forum) in Argentina. She is Founder and President of “Fundación Ruta 40”, an NGO that promotes education in rural schools in Argentina. She is the founder of IAE Business Angel Club, the first angel´s network in the country with investments in more than 15 startups.

She is a lecturer in subjects such as Entrepreneurial Ecosystems, Entrepreneurial Process, Business Models, Angel Investing, and Leadership.
