Alejandro Elsztain obtained an Agriculture Degree from the University of Buenos Aires. He completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in June 1999.
Elsztain has served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Cresud since 1994. Cresud is one of the largest agriculture companies in Argentina that is listed on the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange (“CRES”) and on the Nasdaq Stock Market (“CRESY”). It has approximately 800,000 hectares under management in the region (including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay).
In 2001, he was invited first to reorganized and after to become the CEO of the Group of companies. Nowadays, besides Cresud, he runs IRSA Propiedades Comerciales; a leading commercial real estate company in Argentina primarily engaged in the acquisition, development and operation of shopping center (16) and premium office buildings (6); and IRSA, one of the largest Argentine real estate investment companies that owns an important and diversified portfolio of properties, hotels, landbank as well as some international opportunistic investments, such as the Lipstick building in New York and a 68.3% stake in the Israeli holding IDB Development Corporation (“IDBD”).
Moreover, he was one of the Founders of BrasilAgro (currently, Vice President), an agricultural company that replicated Cresud business model in Brazil and is listed both on Bovespa (“AGRO3”) & NYSE (“LND”).
Recently, he is serving as Board Member of IDBD and as Chairman of Hillel Argentina.
